Main Characters

Saki Watanabe: Saki is a childhood friend of Satoru.

Shun Aonuma: Shun is a childhood friend of Satoru. After the first timeskip, he becomes his boyfriend, but while he constantly shows his affection for his significant other - for example by giving him matching necklaces as a gift or trying to kiss him - Shun hardly expresses his own, rather acting coldly when Satoru acts affectionate towards him, although Shun tries to openly show affection towards Satoru when he is aware of other people watching them, to make them believe they have a healthy relationship full of happiness, and to trigger Saki's jealousy, as he is still in love with her. Eventually, Shun ends the relationship, stating that there is no sense in them pretending to be lovers any longer and that he wants to be by himself for a while, leaving Satoru heartbroken.^[1]
Later on, Shun reveals to Saki that he broke up with Satoru not because he had no feelings for him, but because Shun was undergoing a change into becoming a Karma Demon, and thus wanted to keep Satoru and his other friends safe by keeping his distance from them. As Shun goes missing the next day, Satoru is as worried about him as the rest of Group One and is determined to find him, even though they are no longer in a relationship.
